On behalf of the Australian Government, we are delighted to mark the grand opening of the Inflatable Aqua Park at Black Mountain Peninsula tomorrow, Saturday 9 November. Approved by the National Capital Authority (NCA) earlier this year, this trial adds a new recreational lake activity to be enjoyed by hundreds of people over the upcoming recreational season.

Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories, the Hon. Nola Marino MP, is pleased with the addition of this new lake activity.

“It’s great to see this new activity on the Lake. A major tourist attraction over the summer months, Lake Burley Griffin has many beaches and is often utilised as a place to cool off over the hot summer days.”

“With the recent announcement of the Paddle Boats, making a return to Central Basin this summer as well as the addition of the Inflatable Aqua Park at Black Mountain Peninsula there is going to be a hype of activity on the Lake this year,” said Assistant Minister Nola Marino.

Senator for the ACT the Hon. Zed Seselja welcomed the opening of the Aqua Park and return of the Paddle Boats activating Lake Burley Griffin for recreational activities.

“As a passionate Canberran I am thrilled at the news of the additional activities that will be hosted on our magnificent Lake.”

“A family friendly activity, the Aqua Park will allow families to do an active outdoor activity together taking in the warmer weather, bouncing, climbing, splashing and sliding in what better place than Lake Burley Griffin.”

“These activities will bring a new dimension to the Lake and assist in highlighting the fun and active things you can do on the Lake. I’m keen to ensure Canberrans can make the most of our waterways, and the Liberal-National Government is contributing to this with over $80 million invested in water quality in the ACT,” said Senator for the ACT, Zed Seselja.

The Inflatable Aqua Park will be open from Saturday until end of March 2020. For further information, including ticketing, visit canberraaquapark.com.  The Paddle Boats are scheduled to begin operation in December and more information will follow shortly.
