On behalf of the Australian Government we are delighted to announce Regatta Point, in the heart of the Nation’s Capital is undergoing re-development to create a new restaurant and café.
The National Capital Authority is inviting experienced and innovative hospitality providers to identify their interest in becoming a part of this landmark destination.
“This is an exciting opportunity for this iconic and beautiful landmark situated on the shores of beautiful Lake Burley Griffin, and extending options to tourists and Canberrans alike,” said Nola Marino MP, Assistant Minister for Regional Development and Territories.
Targeted as a landmark property asset by the National Capital Authority, the existing National Capital Exhibition space and Regional Visitors Centre will remain in place. The rest of the Regatta Point site will be re-developed with the aim of modernising and increasing the current footprint including a similar outdoor presence and revitalised restaurant, new café and function centre.
“Regatta Point offers uninterrupted views across our beautiful Lake Burley Griffin to the Parliamentary Zone and this redevelopment offers the hospitality operator the opportunity to create an iconic venue,” the Minister explained.
“The proposed redevelopment will offer restaurant, café and function spaces that cater for the growing tourist and local gourmet markets and an opportunity to highlight our locally grown fresh produce and cold climate wine,” said Senator for the ACT Zed Seselja.
This is a prime opportunity for a hospitality operator to be in partnership with the National Capital Authority for a long term licence and business model.
The National Capital Exhibition and the Canberra and Regional Visitors Centre will continue to be open to the public throughout the redevelopment that is anticipated to start from mid-November 2019.
