The Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission yesterday announced law-breaking group Aussie Farms have had their charitable status stripped following an investigation.

Assistant Minister for Finance, Charites and Electoral Matters yesterday welcomed the decision of the Commissioner.

“The Government recognises the special place that charities occupy in Australia, and it is important that charities recognise their privileged position and do not take advantage of it,” Assistant Minister Seselja said.

“There can be no doubt groups such as Aussie Farms, whose operations involve encouraging trespass on private property and the sabotage of legitimate businesses, constitute an abuse of that privileged position.”

“That’s why last year I and other members of the Government raised our concerns with the ACNC Commissioner regarding the activities of Aussie Farms and I welcome his decision to strip Aussie Farms of their charitable status.”

“Political activists and organisations condoning criminal activities masquerading as charities corrodes Australian’s trust in charities overall.”

“There is no place in the charities sector for these groups.”
