Zed Congratulates Scouting Movement on Hall Renewal

Senator for the Australian Capital Territory Zed Seselja will tomorrow congratulate Les Explorateurs Scout Group on successful renovations to the Scout Hall in Ainslie.

Representing the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Services, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Senator Seselja will thank the families and businesses that contributed resources and time to improve the facilities.

Support was also provided by the Australian Government’s Building Multicultural Communities Programme, run by the Department of Social Services.

“I have no doubt the new and improved facilities, including solar panels and a new kitchen and bathroom, will make the Scout Hall a comfortable and attractive venue for the groups’ activities,” Senator Seselja said.

“Scouting is an international movement which contributes to the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of young people.

“Les Explorateurs delivers the Australian Scouting program in the French language so members can build their French language skills in a really enjoyable environment.

“Scouting confronts young people with new challenges; it’s also a great way to make friends, to work as part of a team and foster leadership.

“The movement helps young people to better understand the natural world and be safe in the Australian bush. Nowhere is this more important than in Canberra, the ‘Bush Capital’.

Senator Seselja also recognises the work that Les Explorateurs’ do in helping young people to realise their potential by providing challenging opportunities for adventure and exploration.

“Multicultural scouting, such as Les Explorateurs, adds another important dimension to the learning experience for these young people.”  Senator Seselja concluded.

The Les Explorateurs Renovation Celebration will take place on Saturday 6 September at the Ainslie Scout Hall from 2:00pm – 4:00pm with the official proceedings beginning at 2:30pm.
