Community Barbeque for National Volunteer Week

Senator Zed Seselja will today host a community BBQ in conjunction with Volunteering ACT as part of the National Volunteer Week celebrations.

“I’m pleased to be hosting this BBQ today and supporting some of the most hardworking individuals in Canberra,” Senator Seselja said today.

“Volunteering is often a thankless job but contributes a great deal to ensuring community organisations, businesses, youth services and many other groups run smoothly for the wider public.

“Volunteers fulfil an important and valuable role in our communities and as National Volunteer Week reminds us, celebrating the power of volunteers is just a small way to say thank you for their tireless efforts. It is a week to reflect on the commitment and dedication of each individual that has devoted time and energy in a voluntary capacity over the years,” stated Senator Seselja.

Maureen Cane, CEO of Volunteering ACT said National Volunteer Week is an important time to celebrate the enthusiasm of volunteers across the country and recognise how volunteering can benefit not only the community but also the individual.

Senator Seselja particularly acknowledges the hard work of Volunteering ACT, which continues to ensure volunteers are supported and promotes the value of volunteers in the everyday workforce.

“The BBQ will be held at Black Mountain Peninsula on Garryowen Drive, I encourage all Canberrans to attend and look forward to meeting some vital volunteers in our local community,” Senator Seselja concluded.
