New General Purpose Learning Areas for St Joseph’s Primary School

Senator Zed Seselja will today officially open the newly refurbished general purpose learning areas at St Joseph’s Primary School in O’Connor.

Students and staff at St Joseph’s Primary School now have full use of the newly refurbished facilities. The Australian Government provided $675,256 in funding from the Capital Grants Programme.

Senator Seselja attended the opening on behalf of Senator the Hon Scott Ryan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education and Training.

“I’m looking forward to visiting St Joseph’s Primary School this morning to see firsthand the new facilities,” Senator Seselja said today.

“The entire school community will benefit from the new learning areas as they will enable students to learn more effectively,” Senator Seselja said.

Over the next four years, the Australian Government is contributing a record $65.4 billion to government, independent and Catholic schools – a $4.0 billion, or 29 per cent, increase from 2014-2017.

As well as delivering increased funding, the Australian Government is focussing on quality and choice for schools.

“While buildings alone do not make a great school, I hope students and staff will enjoy learning and be inspired by these new facilities,” Senator Ryansaid.

“The Australian Government is committed to improving the quality of our schools and equipping students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly competitive world,” Senator Ryan said.

Senator Ryan is responsible for the Capital Grants Programme, which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure where they otherwise may not have access to sufficient capital resources.
