Canberra community groups have received more than $1.2 million under round four of the Safer Communities Fund, to protect children facing risks associated with racial and religious intolerance.
“The Government is committed to protecting children and all Australians from all forms of harassment or violence stemming from racial or religious intolerance. No one should have to fear for their safety,” Senator Seselja said.
“We have already seen successful projects under the first three rounds of the Safer Communities Fund to allow community organisations to address crime and anti-social behaviours.”
“I’m proud to announce Chabad ACT, the Mandir Society of Australia, ACT Jewish Community and the Canberra Islamic Centre, were all successful applicants under round four of the Safer Communities Fund for projects including improving security infrastructure and resources, improved lighting, and installation of CCTV Cameras.”
“Our strong economic management means we are able to continue deliver funding for vital grants like these, to protect communities in our city.”
“This funding comes as the Liberal-National Government continues to deliver for Canberra, announcing more than $800 million in investment for infrastructure and institutions in the ACT in the last two years alone, and continuing to invest in our local businesses and communities, whilst doubling our investment in Canberra hospitals.”
“Applications for round five of the program are open until the 10th of December, and I strongly encourage eligible Canberra community groups to apply,” Senator Seselja said.
