National Gallery of Australia
As the light goes down, the NGA lights up.
Enter the NGA’s Neon Circus for two nights of nocturnal activity.
Explore a magical world with neon circus performers and giant projections of beautiful artworks. Play in a colourful Javanese inspired wonderland. Join a parade of strange creatures around a mysterious sculpture, and dance the night away with dance addicts and dance tragics.
From 6pm enter an Animal Kingdom of creativity, make your own headdress inspired by local fauna and join a strange parade circling a mysterious sculpture. Then venture inside and explore NGA Play: indieguerillas.
Create your own digital avatar, shadow puppets and leave your work as part of the display in the YEAH GALLERY. Once it gets dark, step into NGA’s Gandel Hall for No Lights No Lycra Canberra (NLNL), a global dance craze celebrating the idea that everyone can dance. And don’t forget the spectacular images –
from masked lovers to giant crocodiles, taken from the NGA’s extraordinary collection and projected onto the building’s iconic facade.
